Mego Mystery Vehicle Identity – The Ark II Roamer

To announce their Saturday Morning Fall Schedules, the Big Three networks would often announce their new line-ups in the centerfolds of many a comic book.  They would also do it with the language of colorful comic book art of the time.  CBS included this side frame for Ark II in their 1976 – 1977 season centerfold and it even includes the time of broadcast.

Sometimes, the local affiliate would record it or pick-up a different time of network broadcast so they could show it at a timeslot to accommodate scheduling rearrangements that were one-shot deals to fit specials or permanent alterations for the season or even half season.  In a pre-VHS/pre-Beta world, this also meant some people could see the same episode twice in a day if more than one affiliate would be picked up on their TV or catch the show the week before if the affiliate taped the show for broadcast a week late as also often happened.

Not the prominence of The Roamer in the ad and how they changed the color to make it more visible.

We’ll post more goodies and mysteries revealed like this when we hear of them.
