Bob Clark (1941 - 2007)

We are sad to report that the innovative, groundbreaking and influential film director Bob Clark has died in a terrible auto accident that also claimed the life of his son on April 4, 2007.

Clark was as good with Horror as he was with Comedy and was always trying something different and unique.  A great writer, his films were now being rediscovered as his classic Black Christmas was recently remade to the kind of controversy his better films caused all along.  John Carpenter’s Halloween would not have been possible without him (though Clark gave Carpenter full credit for Carpenter’s hit) and he was about to remake his Horror/Comedy Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things.

Here are highlights of his work we have covered on this site:

Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things

Deathdream/Dead Of Night/The Night He Came Home

Black Christmas

25th Anniversary Edition DVD

Critical Mass Widescreen Special Edition DVD

Murder By Decree

A Christmas Story

My Summer Story (aka It Runs In The Family/sequel)

He will be greatly missed.
