Sorority Wars (2009 Telefilm/Vivendi DVD)

Picture: C+     Sound: C+     Extras: D     Telefilm: C-

How about a comedy about people in a somewhat self-centered world?  Sorority Wars (2009) is a TV movie about Katie (Lucy Hale) entering college and getting involved in the title organizations and their conflict, backed by her mother (Courtney Thorne-Smith of Melrose Place), but she pledges for the big rival sorority, leading to the story in this predictable, lame, flat and never believable telefilm.

Producer/Director James Hayman (Ugly Betty, Joan Of Arcadia, Judging Amy) is more miss than hit for sure, including directing an episode of the disembowelment of the failed 2006 Night Stalker revival and was once a cameraman.  Most of the time, he is responsible for nearly competent corporate product at best and this is one of the majority bad examples of that.  The point of this is eventually self-aggrandizement for the female audience by having such cardboard characters on screen and was badly penned by M.A. Lovretta.  This is ultimately anti-feminist trash.  Faith Ford also stars.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is on the soft side throughout no matter the approach with detail issue, motion blur and a generally dull look throughout.  The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix is really stretching out sound that was never intended for multi-channel anything.  There are no extras.
