A&E continues to roll out their HD programming from
the History Channel on Blu-ray with three more releases that recall some recent
Blu-rays we covered from the company.
Earth & Space is really a combination of How The Earth Was Made – The Complete
Season One and the previous reviewed Universe
– Our Solar System, which you can read about at this link:

How The Earth Was
Made – The Complete Season One is a solid new program also sold separately that covers
how the earth’s crust behaves and key points where formations like volcanoes
and faults exist. The episodes include San Andreas Fault, The Deepest Place On Earth, Krakatoa,
Loch Ness, New York, Driest Place On Earth, Great Lake,
Yellowstone, Tsunami, Asteroids, Iceland,
Hawaii
and The Alps. That is much territory (no pun intended) to
cover and they do a decent job, though sometimes the show feels limited in some
ways, as if it is more show than science at times to have commercial appeal,
but that is only slight. Otherwise, it
is a good series worth a look, especially if you are interested in the subject
matter or want to revisit it.
That leaves the latest Blu-ray in the 360º series which uses digital animation to try and recreate a
panoramic view of an historic event or history in a long-term program. The latest is World War II 360º, which simply combines the Battle 360º and Patton 360º programs we previous reviewed at this link:
http://www.fulvuedrive-in.com/review/10385/Battle+360%E2%80%93Degrees+%E2%80
If you would like to have all the programs, the combination
collections are worth your time.
Otherwise, you can pick and choose individually. The 1080i 1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image
and DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) lossless 2.0 Stereo sound mixes on all the titles
all offer some Pro Logic-type surrounds as they did before and are all on par
with each other. Extras repeat the
previous releases.
