Twisted Sister – Live At Wacken: The Reunion

I was
never the biggest fan of Twisted Sister,
the kind of band that brought in the hair band era and helped kill the Rock
genre (along with Bon Jovi’s Pop in bad Rock clothing), but I have to give Dee
Snider credit for his energy. However,
even that was not enough to make Live At
Wacken: The Reunion involving or interesting, which took place in 2003 in Germany. The performance has various interviews and
vintage footage edited into the body of the show, which actually helps this
from becoming monotonous. Still, this is
for fans only.
However,
they do play We’re Not Gonna Take It
instead of ignoring it as if it ruined them and they never get lazy unlike so
many of their current counterparts. The
CD included has some of the same music, but is also has tracks not on the DVD,
so fans will really want to get this set.
At least this has the band going out on top instead of being tired and
dull, not knowing when to quit while they are ahead.
The 1.33
X 1 image comes from an analog videotape source that has some good color, but
is soft, has some limited depth and haloing.
Other flaws include staircasing, aliasing, some video noise, video
banding and cross color. The sound is
only here in Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 Stereo mixed, while the CD has the
standard 16/44.1 PCM 2.0 Stereo, but both are on par with each other showing
their age and some compression in all cases.
I can see (and hear) why no DTS mix is included. Extras include stills and a making of piece.
