Scott Hastings is a champion ballroom dancer, but when he shocks the dancing community with his own new daring and exciting moves he soon finds himself without a partner. The Ballroom confederation isn't just going to take this sitting down, they are determined to stop Scott's 'new steps' from influencing dance community. With the Pan Pacific Championships coming up, Scott take a chance and teams up with Fran, a beginner dancer to show the world that dancing is following the beat of your heart.
Strictly Ballroom is a classic dancer's movie with a following. Scott is a young, talented dancer who wants to show the world a new way of dancing, but his trouble is the judges of the dance community can't accept his unorthodox new style. Scott find a new partner Fran, an outcast beginner dancer who see the potential of his dance and willing to dance with him, but it takes two to tango and he learns that dancing is more than just following steps. As Scott and Fran practice dancing together, sparks soon begin to fly and they are drawn closer to each other. With his new found steps and partner by his side, can Scott and Fran have a chance in win Pan Pacific Championship?
If you liked dance movies like Shall We Dance, Take the Lead, or Burn the Floor, see the ballroom dance film that started it all. Based originally on a play it soon became the popular movie, the film is filled with amazing actors, bright costumes, and beautiful dancing. It is an adventure and a romance, a Cinderella story's of a young couple who challenges traditional ways to create a new dance of their own. The film is truly a heart warming tale. Extras include Strictly Ballroom: From Stage to Screen, deleted scene, design gallery, Samba to Slow Fox Featurette, and audio commentary.
