Picture: B-     Sound: B-     Extras: D     Episodes: A-

Welcome to Skins, featuring the intertwining stories of a group of British teenage friends and their lives.  Between school, growing up, wild parties and dysfunctional families (and relationships) a close group of friends discover who they are, and life never goes quite the way you want or planned.  Thinking the world is their oyster they live life without rules or boundaries, but when reality catches up and it is time to face the music, they realize what it means to be friends and be there for each other.

In Season 4 of Skins, get ready reap the whirlwind.  Thomas is kicked out of school after a girl dies of an overdose at his party, Effy returns but has some major psychological problems, Cook is sent to prison for being charged with assault and then he breaks out, Emily finds out about Naomi's secret affair and both begins cheating on each other just to spite one another, Kate find out she has menopause and her family losses everything, JJ starts dating a young mother, and Freddie gets back together with Effy but has to deal with some serious problems.  Both old and new relationships are strained and tested, it's a season where everyone's sins are revealed and reality really hits like a truck.

If you like teen drama, emos and drama queens with a British accent then look no further.  A group of friends test the limits of their hedonism, living life as if there were no consequences, their answers to everything can be found in sex, drugs, alcohol and music.  Afraid of the world, responsibilities and their fears they make choices which spiral them down the path of chaos, and just when you think things couldn't get worst... fate would say otherwise.  The characters go from young teenagers who think they are invincible and can live forever to discovering what life really is, to look beyond their skins and appearances, and they realizing they have nothing BUT the skins off their backs and each other.  Extras include trailers, behind the scenes interview with cast and crew, and commentaries.

I liked the anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image and Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo sound better than my fellow writer did on the previous volumes listed below, but maybe these shows improved in playback quality.  We have not covered the MTV U.S. version yet, but we’ll see if that even makes it to DVD.  In the meantime, here is some previous coverage:
