Cosplay Complex (Animé)

Picture: C+     Sound: B-     Extras: D     Episodes: D

Girls pretend to be other persons and have sexual identity crisis, all in the context of a costume stage game in Cosplay Complex, a seedy Animé program that is intended for 17 and older age groups, yet has a cast of pretty much underage girl having sex and lesbian suggestions and even actions fly all over the place.

Chako and company are going to the Cosplay “World Series” and breast envy is as high on the list as the top prize.  They throw in a few male perverts and walk the line between entertainment and exploitation.  There are talking animals, but luckily, this does not get worse with that.  This is a show that is a bomb and a disaster, the kind of product that thinks its being cleverly disguised as Animé, but has a ton of issues.  Persons of all ages should be aware what junk this is.

The full screen image is on the soft side purposely, but it does not cut into the nudity.  The color is consistent, but it is noting special, though not surprisingly, the colors get more so when they wear the costumes.  The sound in Dolby Digital 5.1 English is a bit better than the Pro Logic capable 2.0 Stereo, but both soundtracks are equally obnoxious.  Extras include trick menus that take the girls clothes off, sketches with notes, opening and closing credits without text and other details that try to draw the viewer into the program as if it were trying something more than it really is.  What a disaster!
