Chicken Little 3D (2005/Disney Blu-ray 3D w/2D Blu-ray & DVD)

Even with the acquisition of Pixar, Disney is still making computer animated films and my favorite remains Chicken Little, the 2005 surprise hit based on the morality tale of telling the truth.A funny comedy as well as a charmingly animated piece, we have covered it in its previous editions as the following links will show:

2D Blu-ray

Both of those versions are included in the new Blu-ray 3D edition case.Since the film operates like a childís storybook come to life and it was theatrically issued in 3D, a Blu-ray 3D edition would have been an ideal demo disc and a home run for the new format. So, what went wrong?

The 1080p 1.85 X 1 MVC-encoded 3-D Ė Full Resolution digital High Definition image has all kinds of ghosting and alignment issues and though this is still an HD image, it is a problematic one throughout as if the disc was defective, but we guess someone botched the conversion of this disc and the results are very disappointing, especially since the 2D image remains the best non-Pixar Blu-ray to date.I have checked this on more than one system, so the results are sadly confirmed.

The DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) lossless 5.1 mix here is new to the film, but is an exact match with Blu-ray 2Dís PCM 16/48 5.1 mix that is one of the best PCM mixes we ever heard, which is good.Too bad there was not a large bit configuration (24 or 20 vs. 16) as the DTS-MA could have been better and even a sonic shocker though that just might be the state of the soundmaster.Either way, it is impressive and remains so years later.Extras are the same as the original Blu-ray edition.

I wish this had been great, but it is not, though you can still see it for yourself if you have a 3D system.I hope we discover what went wrong at some point, but you are fine with the 2D Blu-ray otherwise.
