Jean was just a small time crook down on her luck and in need of money and a ride. Luckily she is offered a ride from traveling father and son, Eidon and Cole.  Unknown to either of them, they have given a ride to a criminal, but fate is without a sense of irony, turns out Eidon and Cole are hiding something even worst than her; a psychotic short tempered ex cop with ALOT of money and gun.  Jean realizes must get off... but by the she realizes, she may not have a choice...

In J.M. Logan’s Family (2006) Jean is a crook, not knowing how to drive stick in her stolen truck, it overheats in the middle of a desert.  Wanting to avoid the law, but needing help, she takes whatever comes her way first, a mysterious father and his quiet son seeming touring the country and going no where, which suit her just fine.  She soon discovers Eidon's son 'Cole' isn't really his son and Eidon is loaded with cash, but he is also psychotic killer, former cop, and has kidnapped 'Cole' to be his son.  She becomes involved and has to play the role of 'Helen', his former wife.  No way can this trip end well, but that’s all well say.

This was film about a crook that suddenly develops a conscience, that she might be bad, but there are lines she isn't willing to cross and there is always someone who is worse.  She is let with the choice to steal the money and leaving or staying and try to save the boy.  There are no extras and we have seen much of this before, but it was just watchable enough.
