Rogue River (2012/Lionsgate DVD)

Picture: C     Sound: C-     Extras: C     Feature: C

All that Mara (Michelle Page) wanted to do was scatter her father's ashes in the beautiful Rogue River, but after her car being towed by the police, a kind couple seemed to offer her a place for the night.  What was thought as kindness turns out to complete horror, the couple is not what they seem, they have plans for her and none of it involves her leaving?

So we get a young beautiful girl on a journey and hits bad luck with not only the local police but in to a psycho brother/sister couple.  She is caught, bound and tortured, as each time she tries to escape they torture her some more, slowly breaking her.... but the true horror is they want her to make a baby for them because they can't.  Unwilling they force her and other people they caught into doing their perverse fetishes... realizing there is no escape, no help.

This was yet another horror film, there are no monsters nor supernatural creatures, but the most horrible thing is the human mind, specially when you mix kindness and torture.  Those who torture believe it is a type of kindness, a sharing of 'love'... But the true horror is the lack of hope or free will, each time it gets worse, including forced sex at gun point, and in the end karma has usually has a way of biting back and as they say 'payback a b@#$%'.  This is another RED ONE HD shoot and it is weak, but the sound is also problematic and weak.  Extras include commentary with cast and crew, inside look at the film, extra bits, and trailers.

Art Alexakis, the singer/songwriter for Everclear, co-stars here for some reason.
