While just meeting through friends for just one night, Nate (Steve Guttenberg) and Jenny never thought their paths would meet again so soon.  When Nate gets fired from his job and decides to try and write a novel, and Jenny's fiancé ends up dead and needs to get away from relatives and family, they both end up as roommates.  Needing a break from reality they support and romance in each other in more ways than one... sometimes happiness is just unexpectedly around the corner in A Novel Romance.

Nate is broke and in need of a roommate to help pay rent and Jenny needs a change of scenery after the passing of her fiancé.  When both of them end up together and Nate sets down his 'ten commandments', especially their tenth commandment, to not fall for one another… but rules are meant to be broken, and as Jenny breaks all the rules she inspires Nate to write his book, Nate provides the sensitive care and loving Jenny needs... all this with no strings attached.  When they end up realizing their true feelings are will they break their last rule and still able to just be roommates?

It's a Steve Guttenberg film, what do you expect, can you imagine him not getting the girl (and into his bed) in the end?  Two characters put together, a lonely girl in need of a man + a penniless writer want to be, you do the math.  After the two characters after they lose settle for next best thing, finding a roommate with benefits.  While comical and amusing, in the end the two characters come to understand not only each other but themselves, showing love can happen unexpectedly and without any rules.  Extras include commentary with Steve Guttenberg, Director and Producers, Director's introduction and deleted scenes.
