Red Dwarf X (2012/BBC Blu-ray Set)

Picture: A-     Sound: C+     Extras: B     Episodes: B+

Millions of years in the future, mankind has long since died out, except for Lister the last (male) human.  Along with his three other crew mates, Rimmer the hologram, Kryten the maintenance droid, and Cat the humanoid cat, they bumble around the universe in the old mining ship, the Red Dwarf, getting more often into trouble than out of.

In Red Dwarf X, the Dwarfers run into new problems and challenges, including an abandoned ship and Rimmer's brother, Lister getting drunk to pretend he is his own father, a homicidal AI taking over the ship, time travel, Kryten and Cat getting quantum bonded and them being attacked by a Simulant war ship.

BBC brings you another comical series of these 4 idiots bumbling across the universe, as they barely get along, it's a miracle they haven't destroyed or blown up their ship.  Sadly, their only real mission is to keep Lister, the last human alive and to get him home.  The only up side of side of Blu-ray version is crystal clear 1080p 1.78 X 1 digital High Definition images of the CGI ships though this is a terrific-looking HD production and the DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 lossless mix is good enough and well-recorded, but not as exciting or as active as I had hoped for.  Extras include We're Smegged featurette, deleted scenes, with commentary, Smeg-ups, and outtakes.

---------------------------------------------------------

Trojan - The crew finds an abandoned ship and answers a distress call from Rimmer's brother, Howard

Fathers and Suns - Lister gets drunk to pretend to be his own father, but all the meanwhile the new AI has determined the Red Dwarf to be scrapped and head towards the nearest star.

Lemons - The crew times travels back in time and gets stuck and meets Jesus.

Entangled - Lister loses Rimmer in a game of poker and Kryten and Cat become telepathically entangled.

Dear Dave - Lister finds out he could have been a dad from an old flame's letter, but gets caught in an affair between the vending machines instead.

The Beginning - The Red Dwarf is attacked by Simulants and it is finally time for Rimmer to come up with a REAL plan to save them.
