Being Human: The Complete 2nd Season (2012/U.S. Version/E1 Blu-ray Set)

Picture: A-     Sound: B     Extras: C     Episodes: B+

Three unlikely roommates continue their unlikely existence together: a vampire, werewolf, and a ghost.  While trying to stay hidden and fit in with humans society, they must not only dealing with humans who discover their secret and what they really are, but the other supernatural communities come and test their desire to live a 'normal' life.  Can the really live on as humans when they are really the monsters that go bump in the night?

In the Second Season of the U.S. version of Being Human, the supernatural community take an interest in reminding Aidan, Josh and Sally they are not human and only pretending, sooner or later they must give in to their darker desires.  Aiden must not deal with only their vampire matriarch, Mother, but regain control the vampires of Boston while serving under Mother's spoiled daughter, and his ex-lover.  Josh must not only take care of his recent girlfriend newly turned werewolf and discovers more werewolves out there.  As Sally comes to terms with her death and the fact she is a ghost, her powers grow but now must deal with a mysterious Reaper, shredding stray ghosts like her.

This is the story of how a vampire, werewolf and ghost try to co-exist with each other and the unaccepting world around them.  While their nature made them into natural enemies, they wish to co-exist with human society and not prey on them. But how long can they resist their own desires?  This series is different from the BBC of Being Human, while it has more episodes and better special effects and costuming, the story leaves much to be desired, the story deviates from the British version and focus more on the supernatural beings and their societies, instead of dealing with humans and helping each other to be more human, in short an American version is a poor knock off of the original.

The 1080p 1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image is an HD shoot, but looks really good on each and every episode, while the DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 lossless mix is very smooth, well mixed and fine episode after episode.  The resulting combination is better than the BBC Blu-rays of the U.K. series we have seen so far.  Extras include making of the series, behind the scenes interview, and Being Human at San Diego Comic-Con 2012.
