Dalziel & Pascoe: Season 7 (2000/BBC DVD Set)

Picture: C     Sound: C     Extras: D     Episodes: B+

Tough as nails old school superintendent Andy Dalziel and his sidekick detective Peter Pascoe aren't the best partners in this world, but together they get the job done.  As they face 5 mysterious murders cases, Andy battles not only criminals, but also his failing body after years of over eating, smoking and drinking have finally taken its toll.  Is this a chance for Peter to get out of Andy's shadow and finally take charge of his own cases?

In Season 7 of Dalziel and Pascoe, Andy health issues have become more serious, while not willing to step down, he is not senile enough to push away Pascoe as his most likely potential heir and as Peter takes official charge of the case, he is not egotistic enough to not realize he needs Andy aid.  Even with Andy on sick leave isn't going to stop him from catching murderers, this season they face the rich & corrupt, sleazy health resorts, pedophile priest cover ups, police corruption, and a mysterious murder writer.

This is another great murder mystery series from the BBC and a solid season of it.  As always for the murders, there is usually the main character and their partner who mainly solve the crime, but in this series they have help from a cast of supporting minor police characters.  Usually the detectives work outside the police force and the law.  Most of the in episodes the audience can usually figure out the murderer before then end, with each murder a new clue is given, but then when it is unrelated murders it usually means there is more than one murderer involved.  All the character suspects have reasons they could be the potential murderer, but usually by process of elimination, evidence and cross-examination leads to the true identity of the murderer.  Extras include trailers, but that’s it and the picture and sound is a little rough and aged, but I still enjoyed watching the following…
