Wine, Woman & Friends (2013/First Run Features DVD)

What is a place you dream of going to one day?  For Carole and Jo, it is moving to a small village South of France and starting their own wine fields.  In their spare time they tend to their wine fields with their friends, from weeding, pruning, to harvesting, fermenting and bottling the wine.  Their dream is to produce quality wine and to share it with friends, no experience necessary, just wine, passion and friends and mix in Fiona Cunningham-Reid’s Wine, Women & Friends.

In the day and age where everything is assembly line/factory made there are some things that should be still made the old fashion way, wine for one.  Two woman with wine making as their hobby show how hard it is, the year round maintenance, how it is seasonally timed and all the while they are working their normal jobs.  In a male dominated world, this is considered rare and incredible for two women to make wine.  The French love of wine isn't just hobby, it's a life style.

This is a inspirational documentary of two women (lesbians too) as they bring back good old fashion wine making back to a small village in France.  How it isn't just them but the community, the village people all come together and help in the fields, proud of something that brings them together.  It was an interesting show, not only on how to make wine but the French culture as well, in America where people are taught to think only 'what I want', in France they think more of 'what I can I do for the community?'  It shows how people can make their dreams come true with friends and help of a caring community.  The picture is a little soft throughout while the Dolby Digital 2.0 sound is simple stereo at best and has some location issues.  only extra is trailers.
