Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Enter Shredder (Nickelodeon DVD)

Picture: C     Sound: C     Extras: C     Episodes: B+

Join Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo as they fight the forces of evil above and below the streets of NYC.  As they ninja kick the Shredder and his Foot Clan, Kraang droids, and other bad guys, they are joined by April and guided by their wise Master Splinter in Enter Shredder, the latest in the CGI revival of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The Turtles are seemingly even younger versions of the turtles compared to previous TMNT series.  While different, some things are still the same, Leonardo still leads, Donatello is their tech guy, Raphael is a hot head, and Michelangelo all around class clown goof ball, April had the biggest makeover, instead of a reporter is a teenager girl (whom Donatello has a major crush on) trying to rescue her dad from the alien Kraangs.  As for the bad guys, Shredder is pretty much the same but with a new crew of henchmen, and Kraang instead of one alien is a race of Aliens/robot droids.

So if you have seen it before, welcome back the to latest version of the new old hit cartoon classics and while it is not the best looking animation of the turtles, the characters looked more blockly (like early 3D video game characters), it more than made up for it in it's comedy.  Eventually, you forget about the looks and enjoy the show.  Every episode it focuses on one particular moral and how it saves the day.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 color image is a bit soft throughout while the lossy Dolby Digital sound is weaker than I would have liked for an animated action TV show.  Extras include animated comic books and mutation of a screen.

---------------------------------------------------------

Monkey Brains - The turtles must recapture a runaway mutant monkey. Donatello learns not to over think about things.

Never Say Xever - The turtles must fight the bad guys when they all team up together. Leonardo teaches the team the value of mercy.

The Gauntlet - The four Turtles attempt to rescue April's father, but then discover a mutagen bomb that could take out half the city.

Panic in the Sewers - Splinter fears for the turtles and locks them in the sewer for training, but sometimes fear itself is the worst enemy.

Mousers Attack! - The turtles must stop an army of endless mouse robots and learns about team work.

It Came from the Depths - A new mutant gator is in the sewers, but is it friend or foe? Don't judge a mutant by it's looks.

New Girl in Town - Leonardo decides to take a break from being the leader of the team... and starts dating Shredder's daughter?!
