Hatchet III (2013/Dark Sky Films Blu-ray)

Picture: B     Sound: C     Extras: A     Film: B+

After barely surviving and killing Victor Crowley (again), Marybeth wander into the police station with a shotgun and covered in blood, but only after getting locked up does she discover, Victor Crowley ain't staying dead.  As heavily armed police and SWAT members investigate the crime scene, Victor’s home camp, they only to find themselves in their own bloodbath.  Marybeth, a local policeman, and the chief's ex-wife must find a way to break the curse once and for all and bury Victor for good.... or die trying.

In B.J. McDonnell’s Hatchet III (2013), the local swamp legend is back!  Victor Crowley, the undead, unstoppable, deformed, redneck, hillbilly killing machine.  As the police bring the body bags to clean up the bodies on Victor's island, they only forgot to bring enough bags for themselves.  Marybeth learns only afterwards the only way to stop Victor from resurrecting each time and to kill him forever is to bring Victor his father's ashes.  As they rush to collect the ashes to end the curse of Victor Crowley the body count rises... there might not be anyone left to save by the time they stop the curse.

This is horror film was a gore fest for those who like to see how many different ways can you dismember a person, it is one of those horror films which the point of the film was the gore.  The only thing that was different than your average horror film was that all the characters knew they were in a horror survival situation and is three enough?

The 1080p HD image is really rich and right for a Horror film, but the DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 lossless mix shows flaws and limits to the original recording throughout and disappoints.  Extras include commentaries from actors, cast, writer and director, featurettes, trailers and teaser.
