Doctor Who - Scream Of The Shalka (2003/Animated/BBC DVD Set)

Picture: C Sound: C Extras: D Episodes: B+

The TARDIS lands Doctor Who (voiced by Richard E. Grant) in a small quiet English village in 2003... but it's too quiet. Where the population is under a new management and landlord, aliens know as the Shalka, and they hate loud sounds. While the villagers are too scared to fight, Doctor who teams up with a new friend, Allison (the only one who isn't afraid to fight back, voiced by Sophie Okonido) and together they must stop an alien invasion that has plans to take over the world in the animated 2003 Doctor Who – Scream Of The Shalka.

The Doctor is never pleased with where or when he has to go, but the Time Lord's time machine police box, the TARDIS, always takes him to where he is needed. This time, he encounters an advance alien race know as the Shalka, who controls everything through sound and lives in lava. The Doctor discovers they are not just after the town but has alien agents all over the world; they have plans to destroy Earth's ozone layer to make it a new home for the Shalka, but with the help of his new friend Allison and his robot companion, they will stop the mind controlling aliens and save the world, but an old enemy may just stand in the way.

What is so interesting about the character Doctor Who is not only is he a time traveler, but his views and attitude toward everything, while he claims to be an observer and a pacifist, he somehow always manages to get involved, and while he does not want to kill, he'll kill thousands if need be for the greater good. On top of everything, he is always right and never wrong! There is a reason to everything he does, even if he doesn't make sense now it make sense later because he thinks and does things in 4th or 5th dimension. At least in this version.

The 1.33 X 1 color image has overly simple animation I was not impressed with, while the lossy Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo was simple and only so impressive. Extras include commentary.
