The Art of Battlefield 4 (By Martin Robinson/2013/Titan Books Hardcover)

Book: C+

Six years later, once again the world is on the brink of war between China, Russia and United States, a Chinese Admiral is planning a coup d'etat to overthrow the Chinese government, then ally themselves with the Russians into a war with the United States. Recker and his squad are once more called into action, as they lead a covert mission into near futuristic of Shanghai to rescue VIPs and then escape only to find their own armada sinking. After repelling enemy forces they attack to destroy the enemy airfield, but then at the cost of being captured. They then escape from mountain prison and return to their ship on foot, and must fight an enemy warship trying bury the truth with them.

That is the narrative set up for Battlefield 4 and issues as a tie-in is The Art Of Battlefield 4, another beautiful coffee table book from Titan Books featuring many vistas of near future of Shanghai, based on actual places, the pictures and games creates a fictional story of a battlefield of the future. Along with pictures of the cities, are the aftermath of a naval battle defeat, a huge mountain prison, the country side and the final battle. The story is about a character and his squad leading a minor war in order to prevent a major war, but yet having full military war situations are spelled out well enough. The book has a huge amount pictures of the places and setting in the game, but few of characters and equipment on high quality paper that makes it a great piece for fans of the game.
