Teen Wolf - Season 3: Part 1 (2013/MGM/Fox DVD Set)

Picture: B- Sound: B- Extras: B Episodes: A-

Scott McCall was just a social outcast in high school until he was bit and became a werewolf. Now he is drawn into the world of the supernatural and the Hunters, those who hunt them. As he learns how to be a member of the pack, he tries to continue a normal life while keeping his werewolf life hidden from the normal world. He is also mentored by a mysterious seasoned werewolf Derek and surround by his friends who either become werewolves like him or are hunters, or have some supernatural ability.

In this latest half-season of the new Teen Wolf series, Scott tries to get back to his normal life, he rekindles his relationship with Allison Argent, a female Hunter he has feelings for. However, a new threat enters Beacon Hills, a pack of werewolves made of entirely of Alpha wolves that want both Derek and Scott to join their ranks... but the catch is, in order to join they must first kill their own pack. Soon, they find out there is a greater evil hunting both packs, and they forge a tentative truce, as a dark druid is sacrificing innocents all over town to gain power to get revenge for the war between werewolves and hunters. As Scott continues to try to resolve things without bloodshed, he faces his own choice... that he is potential in becoming an True Alpha wolf.

This is a remarkable remake of the 1985 original feature film comedy version of Teen Wolf, while there is more action and set in a darker world, it is still not without a bit of comedy and romance from teenage high school drama. As this new generation of teen werewolves and hunters emerge they are sometimes forced to fight one another or team up together to face a greater evil, but what they do not have is the bad blood between the previous generations of werewolves and hunters, while peace is wanted by both sides, leaders in power want to continue the war in order to maintain their power. The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image and lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 mix are as good as they are going to be in this format, so where is the Blu-ray? Extras include deleted scenes, gag reel, return of the shirtless montage and back to the pack.
