I Love Lucy: The Christmas Special Colorized (CBS DVD)

Picture: B- Sound: C Extras: C Episodes: C+

Ho ho ho, it's Christmas with Lucy. Along with the once lost Christmas Special, enjoy three episodes of Lucy as she travels to Italy, and Scotland with either colorized or the original black and white versions.

Lucille Ball as Lucy Ricardo has always been an iconic figure of her time, along with her husband Ricky Ricardo and their neighbors/Ricky's manager Frederick and Ethel. In the Christmas show, Lucy and her friends remember their past and how they became a family as they set up for Christmas. In Lucy's Italian Movie, Lucy is eager to tryout in a movie and goes to a grape farm with comical results. In Lucy Goes to Scotland, Lucy dreams of visiting Scotland and faces a two headed dragon.

I Love Lucy is old school comedy, it takes a young American couple with mixed heritages and as they live day to day in America with their hopes and dreams. Lucy has a kind heart and she is a bit naive, but that what makes her so lovable and funny. Often there would be singing and dancing, and show would make fun of couple antics, stereotypes and cultures. Both the colorized image (hmmm) and original black and white image are here in 1.33 X 1 presentations and the sound is lossy Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono as it was on all the DVD box sets. There are no extras, save the extra episodes, which we'll count in this case. Be on the lookout for the show on Blu-ray soon!
