Nurse Jackie: Season Five (2013/Lionsgate Blu-ray)

Picture: B Sound: A- Extras: A Episodes: B+

Nurse Jackie is the trauma/drama queen at All Saints Hospital, between saving lives she must also deal with her drug addictions, various affairs of friends and co-workers while raising family dealing with teenage daughters. While Jackie's position is the head nurse of the ER department, she is basically the one who runs the hospital. She is not afraid to violate the moral codes or rules of conduct to keep the hospital running or to save lives.

Jackie (Edie Falco) returns in Season Five after her drug probation and deals with two new doctors, Prentiss and Carrie, Prentiss is a former army doctor and Carrie is doctor who does nothing but use sex to get others to cover for her. Akalitus' memory problems gets worst and Jackie is unable to cover for her. On top of that Jackie's divorce and she fights for the custody of her kids and she discovers her daughter Grace is drug addict as well. While attending AA, she begins facing her own past and begins dating the policeman Frank right after hitting her ex-husband's in a car accident.

Nurse Jackie reminds me of the series Scrubs, except with more drugs and family drama. Life isn't perfect and it is full of pricks, but the character Nurse Jackie knows exactly how to deal with life's problems (even through she can't for the life in her to save her own marriage) and she is not the prime example of mother of the year, but the audience can relate her various vices and personal problems.

The 1080p 1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image and lossless DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 mixes on each show look great, so playback is top quality here. Extra include cast and crew commentaries, A Sober Jackie featurette, New to the Floor featurette, gag reel and deleted scenes.
