Welcome
to Adventure Time; join Finn the human with his best friend
Jake the dog. Along with Princess Bubblegum and Marceline the
Vampire Queen and other various citizens they face various adventure
and challenges in the land of Candy Kingdom in this latest release of
the hit cable TV animated comedy series. Finn is the token human in
the land of Candy Kingdom accompanied by his magic shape shifting
talking dog/best friend Jake. The Candy Kingdom's citizens are
anthropomorphic foods and other various objects. Princess Bubblegum
is the ruler of Candy Kingdom, but she is more interested in science
than boys. Marceline is a vampire that doesn't drink blood but
rather the color red. Together they all have fun and adventures
together each day or save the kingdom from the various forces of
evil.
This
is a 16-episodes DVD single of Adventure Time, each episode is
about 10 minutes long. It reminds me of more modern Gumby and Pokey,
two best friends having adventure in an abstract cartoon world where
anything can come alive and anything can happen. The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image and lossy Dolby Digital sound
are also on the weak side, but passable for a show that looks and
plays much better on Blu-ray releases we've reviewed elsewhere on
this site. Extras include Little Did You Know,
which is very superfluous. Think of this as a sampler at best.
