Still Mine (2012/Fox Blu-ray)

Picture: B Sound: A- Extras: D Film: A-

Wanting to make a better home for his ailing wife, Craig Morrison (James Cromwell) decides to build a better home that suits his wife's needs. But he soon encounters a government inspector who insists it's not built up to code and threatens to bulldoze his house. Craig is an 80-year-old-man who's wife Irene (Genevieve Bujold) has Alzheimer's disease. Not being rich or wanting to go into debt, he decides to build a house with his own with is own to hands with his own saw mill, but he is soon hounded and molested by government inspectors who insist he needs to conform to government fees, permits, government approved contractors, blue prints, stamped wood, and their rules and standards. Even after complying with all their demands, rules, regulations and hired private contractors who said his home exceeded government standards, the government still threatens to bulldoze his home, throw Craig in jail, and send his wife to a nursing home.

This is a heart touching story of a man wanting to build a more manageable home for him and his aging wife against the government. It is based on a true story of a man who was above the law (and it's standards) the law who threatens to tear them down because they were better. It proves that too many of those who work in the government are a bunch of rule zealots with no flexibility, they rather follow rules than change... even when they are wrong. And anyone who threatens a person's rights to freedom and liberty to build a better life are no better than the Nazi party. Campbell Scott also stars.

The 1080p 1.85 X 1 AVC @ 25 MBPS digital High Definition image transfer is an impressive Arri Alexa-all HD shoot throughout that surprises and is really consistent in its quality, while the DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 lossless mix is warm with a soundfield that never falters much. There are no extras, unless you count Digital Copy.
