Ben 10 Omniverse - Duel Of The Duplicates (2014/Cartoon Network/Warner DVD)

Picture: B Sound: B- Extras: D Film: C

Ben 10 is about a boy named Ben who acquires a watch-like alien device called The Omnitrix that allows him to turn into other alien creatures. The evil Albedo, Ben's arch nemesis, has gone deep undercover with his Ultramatrix device and is disguised as Ben, tricking Ben's friends and earning their trust. Though the baddie seeks a device that will finally change him back to Galvan form and allow him to carry out his most diabolical plan yet! It's up to our heroes Ben, Rook, and Max to stop Albedo from absorbing Azmuth's intelligence and taking over the galaxy. Unfortunately as the evil Khyber (who oddly resembles Marvel's Thanos) as an ally, Albedo appears unstoppable.

The Albedo Story on this disc is three episodes entitled The Ultimate Heist, A Fistful of Brains, and For A Few Brains More.

This was my first time seeing this show and all in all I find it to be pretty average. The animation is what I would call standard - similar to what you would see on Saturday morning television. The creature and characters designs I don't find to be unique enough to make the show stand out like I think it aims to.

The vibe reminds me of the Green Lantern but doesn't have the characterizations or as cool of a concept that makes it comparable. The age range for this show I would say would be pre-teens or early-teens - it's not dark or gritty enough to appeal to young adults and the jokes are very kiddy.

The standard definition transfer is fine for this DVD release - along with the lossy Dolby Digital Stereo 2.0 audio track. The total running time for the disc clocks in around 110 mins.

Bonus episodes on this release include Evil's Encore, and Return to Forever. No other Special Features are on this release.
