Eastbound & Down - The Complete Fourth & Final Season (2013/HBO Blu-ray Set)

Picture: A Sound: A Extras: B+ Episodes: A

Eastbound and Down reaches a hilarious conclusion with its fourth and final season on Blu-ray disc from HBO Entertainment. Starring Danny McBride (Tropic Thunder) as Kenny Powers - a once big time Major League Baseball player with a troubled marriage (his wife with a heart of gold beautifully played by Katy Mixon) starts out the season by hitting rock bottom. His wife gets an award at her job that makes him feel like a failure. Luckily, a chance encounter with ex-teammate named Guy Young launches him back into the public eye with a spot on his sports show - Sports Sesh. Once on the show, Kenny gets horribly embarrassed by a co-host and strikes back with a vengeance when he captures the heart of the audience and gets a permanent spot on the show. With this comes renewed fame and more money than he knows what to do with. Soon, Kenny alienates his friends and family and starts throwing money at them (often times literally) instead of seeing what they really need - a friend and a father. Soon, Kenny gets his own show and is so blinded by his wealth and power that he runs off the co-hosts and kicks his wife into gear on getting a divorce.

There's really no other actor that could portray Kenny Powers but Danny McBride. His incredible acting molds a character that you hate in one minute and love in the next. He is very aware of his arrogance to others and will stop at nothing to make himself happy. In a way, he is the walking example of selfishness and how money can corrupt an individual.

There are so many hilarious moments in this season that its hard to pin down a favorite. There's the episode where he buys his children a pet wolf that he keeps in his garage, his pride in getting his own swimming pool, when he convinces his best friend to get a chin job and the last episode which co-stars Sasha Baron Cohen (who is known of course as Bruno and Borat) as an evil television executive with a very twisted little boy.

HBO has again knocked it out of the park with this release. Packed with superior sound and picture quality. The 1080p high definition transfer is crisp and preserved in 16 X 9/1.78.1 aspect ratio that is literally flawless. The audio is also comparable with an English DTS-HD Master Audio (MA) lossless mix in 5.1, French DTS Digital Sound 5.1, Latin Spanish DTS Digital Surround 2.0 and subtitles in English, SDH, French, Latin, Spanish, Norwegian, and Swedish.

Extras on the disc include exclusive deleted scenes, hilarious outtakes, audio commentaries with Cast and Crew including Danny McBride, Steve Little, Ken Marino, Jillian Bell, Tim Heidecker, and More!

This is a must see show if you are a fan of Danny McBride and is really unlike any other show on television. You can always count on HBO to deliver the goods!
