in at an impressive 451 minutes, Comedy
Bang! Bang! Season Two
is packed with laughs and features many of your favorite stars and
comedians like you've never seen before. Comedy
Bang! Bang!
is a television series created and hosted by Scott Aukerman,
featuring his co-host/bandleader Reggie Watts. The show airs weekly
on IFC and is a spin-off of his successful podcast Comedy
Bang! Bang!
- which airs on the Earwolf Network. Like the podcast, the series
features outlandish and farcical humor, often delivered in a deadpan
and very over the top manner.
The
mock talk show derives most of its comedy from its surreal spoofs of
common late night tropes as well as from the characters' own
cartoonish inability to conduct said talk show. Some cameos in this
season are Jessica Alba, Ariz Ansari, David Cross, Jim Gaffigan, Zach
Galifiankis, Bill Hader, Pee-wee Herman, Gillian Jacobs, Rashida
Jones, Jason Schwartzman, Sarah Silverman, Cobie Smulders, and Casey
Wilson to name just a few.
This
review pertains to the DVD release, which is at a high standard but
obviously doesn't match the quality of a Blu-ray disc. The standard
definition presentation retains the show's original anamorphic
widescreen presentation in 1.78:1. A Dolby Digital 5.1 track is also
standard with optional English subtitles for the deaf & hearing
impaired. Spanish subs are also on the disc and we previously
covered the debut season elsewhere on this site.
This
set is PACKED with extras - Full
Episode Commentaries, Deleted/Bonus Scenes and Interviews, Musical
Episode Talkback Featuring the Cast, Reggie Makes Music, Reggie's
Season 2 Music Supercut, VFX tests, CBB Crew Dance Party, Meet The
Crew, and An Acting Lesson With Herb Roost.
Overall,
if you are an Adult Swim or raunchy comedy fan, then this show is
definitely worth checking out. Anchor Bay did a great job with this
release as well!
