It's
the night before Halloween, Mischief Night, and everything is a
trick. As Kaylie (Brooke Anne Smith) is babysitting, she must defend
the house from kids from egging and TPing the house. But when a
mysterious stalker eyeing the house it becomes real, and matter of
life and death... but like Halloween, everything, everyone has a mask
and a dark secret. And the real question is ...who is the killer?
In
Travis Baker's Mischief Night (2014), Kaylie seems like your
typical high school blonde, but when she discovers a psycho
killer/stalker is after her ...it becomes a prefect opportunity for
murder... for her. Instead of being the perfect victim, she
convinces her would be killer what he really wants isn't to kill her
but herself, she then proceeds to seduce him and have sex with him.
Afterwards she goes on a murder spree, killing her best friend (for
cheating on her) and few other kids that bothered her and then frames
(and kills) her psycho killer lover. Malcolm McDowell shows up in
supporting role as Mr. Smiles and Erik Palladino also star in a sea
of unknowns.
This
was a horror film where it became a reverse horror film, the 'victim'
turns things around and turns out to be more of a killer than the
actual killer. As if saying, you shouldn't be scared of masks, you
should be more scare of the quiet ones. Unfortunately the film was
not very surprising, you could tell main character wasn't exactly
scared and nothing is scarier than a woman scorned, because hell hath
no fury like a woman scorned.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.85 X 1 image and lossy Dolby Digital 5.1
mix are weaker than they should be with a film that has McDowell in
it. Extras includes digital download and trailers, which is very
weak.
