Labyrinth (2012 TV Mini-Series/Lionsgate DVD)

Picture: B- Sound: C Extras: C Episodes: B+

When a girl named Alice unearths an ancient ring at a dig site, turn out it may be the key to finding the lost Holy Grail, she instantly finds herself surrounded by people and secret organizations who will do anything to find it, but she suddenly finds herself peering into the past 800 years ago through the eyes of another 17-year-old girl Alais. Somehow their destinies are connect over time and space to reveal a truth that could change the world...

In the TV mini-series Labyrinth (2012), Alice discovers she is from a line of guardians who are keepers and protectors of the Holy Grail. Upon discovering her ancestor's ring, she suddenly is given visions and is able to see into the pass, and what lead up to losing the Holy Grail. The Holy Grail was not a cup, but rather 3 books when put together would grant the knowledge to eternal life, but for generations, descendants of those who would want the Grail's power for their own have also been waiting for the lost books to resurface. Without the proper knowledge, the Grail becomes a curse and poison to the world.

The Cain and Abel-like story with 2 half sisters supplanting men; one becomes the guardian of the Holy Grail and the other becomes jealous and plots to steal it, is what we get here. Though the times have change and centuries have passed, the quest for the Grail is a never end battle between good and evil.

The anamorphically-enhanced image looks good, but lossy Dolby Digital could have been better. Extras includes Making of the Labyrinth and trailers.
