Regular Show: Rigby Pack (2014/Cartoon Network/Warner DVD)

Picture: B Sound: B Extras: D Main Program: B-

Regular Show is a pretty funny Cartoon Network animated show with creativity and off beat humor that's fun for kids and adults. The animation is nothing spectacular, much akin to an average animated show that you would see on Nickelodeon in the 1990s (back when they were actually cool). It's not quite as off the wall or innovative as Adventure Time but offers up some good humor that either hits or misses. If you are a fan of easy to watch cartoon programming that isn't very heavy then this may be a good show for you to check out! It reminded me of Ren and Stimpy but without the gross out humor and definitely draws inspiration from Rocco's Modern Life with crafting a bizarre alternate reality as random animals are characters in adult-like roles (and clothes).

This edition is all about Rigby who is a 23-year-old sassy raccoon that you learn to both love and hate. Rigby is very arrogant, impulsive, impatient and immature at all times, giving him the personality of a child. He is pretty good at listening to his gut (as seen in the first episode Bank Shot) and has a bit of brotherly envy for Don (who is the taller, more handsome Raccoon). All of the supporting characters in the show are random animals and creatures are all creatively portrayed. The soundtrack is frantic and almost video-game like and all in all the show could best be described as offbeat, making it perfect for Adult Swim fans.

Regular Show: Rigby Pack is the eighth DVD release of Regular Show and features 16 episodes from Seasons 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 of Regular Show. Two episodes are from Season 1 (Don, Rigby's Body); one is from Season 2 (Temp Check); two are from Season 3 (Fortune Cookie, Trash Boat); four are from Season 4 (One Pull Up, Sandwich of Death, A Bunch of Full Grown Geese, Fool Me Twice); and seven are from Season 5 (Wall Buddy, Survival Skills, Bank Shot, The Heart of a Stuntman, Rigby in the Sky With Burrito, Journey to the Bottom of the Crash Pit, Return of Mordecai and the Rigbys).

Episodes again are as follows:

Bank Shot

Don

Fortune Cookie

Rigby in the Sky With Burrito

Return of Mordecai and the Rigbys

Wall Buddy

Survival Skills

One Pull Up

Temp Check

Trash Boat

A Bunch of Full Grown Geese

Journey to the Bottom of the Crash Pit

The Heart of a Stuntman

Fool Me Twice

Sandwich of Death

Rigby's Body

The sound and picture on the disc are standard for DVD and could definitely benefit to a Blu-ray release. Some of the lines around the characters in high definition have almost a white halo - style effect that Blu-ray seems to take away and make the colors more clear. At any rate, the image is standard definition anamorphic 16.9 (1.85:1 television broadcast) and the sound is a lossy Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track. English SDH is also on the disc for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Total running time for all of the episodes on the disc is 176 minutes.

There are no additional extras on the disc.
