Fate Stay Night: Complete Collection (2006/Type-Moon/Sentai Filmworks Blu-ray)

Picture: B Sound: B+ Extras: C- Episodes: A-

Now on Blu-ray, we get the original Fate Stay Night: Complete Collection set. Emiya Shirou finds himself in the middle of the Holy Grail Wars when he accidentally summons warrior maiden Saber. The Holy Grail Wars is a secret war that has been going on for ages between mage clans. Each chosen master is identified by when they summon a powerful servant or heroic spirit to battle in the Holy Grail War. They are to battle to the death with each other, and only last one standing will gain the Holy Grail and it's unimaginable power ...to grant the wish of a worthy master.

Shirou was barely an apprentice mage when he suddenly witnesses a battle and enters the Holy Grail Wars. He is expected to battle other Masters Mages when he summons the beautiful warrior maiden, Saber who defends and fights for him. Saber is the reincarnation spirit of King Arthur, a girl with a noble spirit and honor, and she died never having known love. They are joined by Tosaka Rin and her mysterious servant 'Archer', who later hints he is the Shirou of the future. While the mages have been battling over the centuries for the Grail, each progressive Holy Grail War has become brutal and has even leveled cities, but none has truly succeeded and gain the Holy Grail. While the other mages views their 'servants' only as tools for gaining the Holy Grail, Shirou is the only one that treats Saber as an equal and as a girl. Together, they fight to protect the people, their friends, each other, and to bring an end the Holy Grail Wars.

This is a classic battle anime mixed with heroic legendary (be it fictional or not) characters and epic battles. Type-Moon who created Fate Stay Night has spawned many series, spin-offs, even video games with beautiful drawn characters, epic stories and breaking boundaries. If you like Fate Stay Night, then you'll enjoy other series such as Tsukihime, Fate Zero, Kara no Kyokai (if it ever reaches United States), remake of Fate Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works, and many more.

The 1080i 1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image across all the episodes look fine and consistent for an interlaced presentation, while the lossless DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 2.0 Stereo is warm, rich and has very palpable Pro Logic-like surrounds. Extras include trailers.
