Hidamari Sketch: Season Three (2010/Sentai Filmworks Blu-ray)

Picture: B Sound: B+ Extras: C Episodes: B+

Hidamari Sketch continues in its Third Season, where life is like art, and everyday is like a blank canvas waiting to be fill with beautiful drawings and warm feelings. As Yuno enters her 3rd semester at the prestigious Yamabuki Art School with Miyako, Hiro and Sae, they are joined by 2 new freshman, Nazuna and Nori. Now it is Yuno's turn to be the big sister to help guide and show the ropes to the freshman, but will she be up to the task?

Yuno is still a young innocent and naive (but clumsy) girl studying art and living at Hidamari apartments. She lives with Miyako, Hiro and Sae. Miyako is a energetic blonde who is Yuno's best friend. Hiro and Sae are older students, Hiro is the kind, caring, and considered the 'mother' of Hidamari apartments and Sae is considered the 'father' as the big mature older sister. Together, they all live together a Hidamari apartments where they all support and inspire each other artwork and major. Their teacher and instructor is the busty Miss Yoshinoya, often her outfits and comments are a bit risque.

This was a shojo anime (young girl's anime) where everything is about being 'moe' (being cute). The series is based on four panel manga about young females on the verge of womanhood, but not quite ready romance yet. It is a comical coming of age series of young teenagers learning about life, friendship, love, romance and the wide world around them continuing as one of the best and most currently successful of its kind.

The 1080p 1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image transfers are fine and solid, if not spectacular, but the DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) lossless 2.0 Stereo mixes on each episode are very well recorded, plus offer very healthy Pro Logic-like surrounds. Extras include 2 OVAs, clean opening and closing animations and trailers.
