Impractical Jokers: Season Two (2012/Warner/TruTV DVD Set)

Picture: B- Sound: C Extras: C+ Episodes: B

If you are a fan of hidden camera hilarity then this is definitely the show for you! Impractical Jokers explodes onto DVD again with Season Two with this 3-disc set (28 episodes) that is packed with laughs and collectible packaging. The show follows Joe Gatto, James Murray, Brian Quinn and Sal Vulcano, the four members of the comedy troupe The Tenderloins as they coerce one another into doing public pranks while being filmed by hidden cameras. The show differs from other prank television programs in that the stars of Impractical Jokers do not know the details of the prank until the moment they are performing it on strangers.

While one cast-member performs the prank, the other three comedians in the troupe are behind the scenes feeding lines to their friend via microphone (with an earpiece). The lines fed to the prankster are meant to create a humorous and awkward exchange between the prankster and the stranger being pranked. The show is similar to (the recently revived again) Candid Camera, Jack Ass (yet not as crude) and the Ashton Kutcher show Punk'd, though in my opinion is funnier than both.

This season originally aired in 2012 with Season Three still going on this year. The show has been so popular that it not only was renewed for a twenty-six episode Fourth Season, but has earned an upcoming spin off series named Joker's Wild. That will hopefully not confuse anyone with the great hit Jack Barry game show of the same name.

Sound and Picture are of a high standard for DVD but doesn't quite reach HD glory. The picture is presented in a 16 X 9/1.78 X 1 anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio and a lossy English Dolby Surround 2.0 track. English SDH is also on the disc. Total running time is a whopping 572 minutes spanning the three discs.

Extras include Deleted Scenes, Inside Jokes, Behind The Scenes, and Uncensored commentaries.
