A Trip To Italy (2014/MPI/IFC Blu-ray)

Picture: B+ Sound: B+ Extras: C Film: B

For those of you who may not know, The Trip to Italy is a 2014 British dramedy (comedy/drama) that's written and directed by Michael Winterbottom and stars Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan. It is the sequel of Winterbottom's TV series The Trip, whose second season also titled The Trip to Italy broadcast on BBC Two, following the film's premiere at Sundance and the sequel to a hit feature film as well. This film is pretty entertaining from start to finish and has some pretty great locations and cinematography to boot.

Rob has been commissioned by a newspaper to go on a driving tour of Italy from Piedmont to Capri, partly following in the footsteps of the great Romantic poets. Steve joins him, and as they journey through the beautiful Italian countryside, they talk about life, relationships, do fantastic impersonations of Michael Caine, and their careers.

Sound and Picture on the disc are top notch with a 1080p high definition presentation in a widescreen 1:85.1 aspect ratio. The sound mix is a crystal clear, lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. Subtitles are on the disc in English SDH and Espanol. Extras include Special Features, Deleted Scenes, and Trailer.

The Trip to Italy is a good watch if you have a taste for British comedy and especially if you can't afford a trip to Italy yourself!
