Dog & Scissors: Complete Series (2013/Sentai Blu-ray Set)

Picture: B Sound: B+ Extras: C- Episodes: B+

Kazuhito is a bibliomaniac. Unfortunately for him, he just died, but fortunately he get reincarnated as his favorite author's pet dog. Now he gets to read all her books and have her be his 'master', but Natsuno has been in a slump ever since his death, but now that he's come back from the dead, Kazuhito must inspire her to complete her book in Dog & Scissors: Complete Series (2013).

Kazuhito's life has really gone to the dogs (literally). After dying and reincarnating as canine, he now lives with Kirihime Natsuno, a beautiful, sadistic goth girl with a love of scissors who's really his favorite author. Now between her, other authors, a masochistic editor, his sister (who has a brother complex), his life now seems to be surrounded by beautiful (but crazy) girls who can hear his thoughts even thought he is now a dog. Too bad for the girls, Kazuhito is more interested in their books. While Natsuno feels somewhat responsible for Kazuhito's death, she secretly hides the fact that she is also in love with him, but she expresses it to him with sadistic terror and torture, specially when the other girls get close to him.

This was a weird but comical anime series, while it is almost like a harem anime (one guy with a ton of girls after him), it had plenty of fan service, including the beach and hot springs episode. In the end, you have to wonder, would it have made any if much of a difference if the main protagonist was human or dog? In all, this series makes fun of the world of authors and the fans who follow them.

The 1080p 1.78 X 1 digital high definition image is very consistent throughout with solid animation throughout with stable playback throughout, while the lossless DTS-HD Japanese (Master Audio) MA 2.0 Stereo is another warm, rich presentation that is a tad better than the English version. Both have good Pro Logic-like surrounds. Extras include English dubs, clean opening and closing animation and trailers.
