Attack Of The Morningside Monster (2014/MVD Visual DVD)

Picture: B- Sound: B- Extras: D Film: C-

There's a Monster Inside Everyone

Here's another B-movie slasher-whodunnit flick that is kind of a mix between Scream, Halloween, and True Detective though far from as engaging as any of those mentioned. The performances in Attack Of The Morningside Monster (2014) aren't as terrible as one would expect but the Slasher himself is kind of lame. The film stars Nicholas Brendon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Tiffany Shepis (Sharknado 2) and Robert Pralgo (TV's Teen Wolf).

When desecrated corpses and ritualistic symbols start appearing in the otherwise peaceful town of Morningside, NJ, the local sheriff, Tom Haulk, and his deputy, Klara Austin, are forced into an unreal world of darkness. While tracking the killer, the officers are forced to tangle with deadly serious local drug runners, and Tom faces his own demons as he watches his closest friends struggle against impossible odds.

With time running out and the bodies piling up, Tom and Klara have to use every bit of skill and training they have to catch the killer. They embark on a desperate race against time, pitting the two against friends, enemies and even each other.

Sound and Picture are presented in standard definition with a 16 X 9 widescreen aspect ratio and a lossy Dolby Digital 2.0 track that is adequate for DVD, but not very impressive. Trailers and a Commentary Track with director Ethridge, writer Jayson Palmer, and producer Michael H. Harper constitute your extras.

All in all, the film is average fair and nothing really to write home bout.
