Red
Vs. Blue: Season 12 (2014/Flatiron/Cinedigm Blu-ray w/DVD)

Marooned
on a back water planet, the Red and Blue now must work together to
find out what happened when their ship crashed. Tucker, Grif,
Simmons, and Caboose struggle to find and free their friends when
they get separated. They soon discover they are in a planetary civil
war (again) and as the 'heroes' of Blood Gulch they get recruited
into the war, but between their crashed ship, the war, finding their
friends, training newbies, mysterious alien tech and mercenaries they
have their work cut out for them in Season Twelve of Red
Vs. Blue (2014).
Stuck
on a planet, low on ammo, surrounded by trigger happy soldiers and
mercenaries, and rogue A.I.s (and without a clue) team Red and Blues
seem never to get a break. Now, with their leaders gone, they find
themselves somehow now the heroes of a civil war. With Agent
Washington, the Sarge, Donut, and a certain robot android named Lopez
MIA, Tucker, Grif, Simmons and Caboose (the idiots of the group) find
themselves in charge for once. Their first priority is to find and
rescue their friends, only to discover later their friends are also
trying to rescue them from the 'rebel terrorists' and the dark truth
is both sides of the war are being manipulated by mercenaries to gain
hands on alien tech and weapons. The only way off the planet now is
finally for them is to find a way to stop the war, find the ones
responsible, make peace and not get kill (if they don't kill each
other first). It's finally time for them to step up and be soldiers
the are (or at least what people think they are).
Compared
to the video game Halo and epic tale of the Master Chief, Red Vs.
Blue is a comic parody of space marines. More often the
characters remind you of gamers who rather run from a fight, but most
of the show then is about the comic dialog between them, while you
get to watch a bunch of loose cannons and mavericks somehow save from
galaxy from either evil aliens or companies/military trying to profit
off the galaxy wide war. Ironically, only a group of what is
considered fail soldiers/losers are the ones really fighting for
peace.
The
1080p 1.78 X 1 digital high definition image is a little rough as
expected, but better than the last season, while the anamorphically
enhanced DVD is, of course, weaker. The sound this time on the
Blu-ray is DTS-HD (MA) Master Audio 5.1 mix also a little better than
the last volume, but the lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 on the DVD remains
weaker too. Extras include Character journals, audio commentary with
cast and crew, blooper reel, deleted scenes, 4 PSAs and trailers.
