Tae-seok
was a professional GO player ...that was until he was roped into an
illegal high stakes underground game, framed for his brother's death
and then was sent to prison. After vowing revenge, years later he
gets out and hunts down his brother's killers one by one. He hunts
them down and challenges them to their own game of GO, betting each
of their lives on the line. Tae-seok was forced to watch his brother
die when they lost a GO game hosted by the Korean Mafia in Beom-gu
Cho's The
Divine Move
(2014 aka God's
One Move).
Framed
for his death he was sent to prison, but in prison he practiced and
became a master. Not only in GO but a fighter as well. After being
released he teams up with a con artist, blind man and a one handed
carpenter, people who were like him who lost to the mob and paid a
price. Now, armed their new allies and tricks they plan to give the
mob a little taste of their own medicine.
This
was film sorta reminded me of Alexander Dumas' The
Count of Monte Cristo,
a man wrongfully sent to prison and years later get his revenge.
While there was some cool fight scenes, it would have been better if
they used the game pieces like ninja stars or weapons, but for some
odd reason, the bad guys must first be defeated in a GO game first
before they get taken out. While both sides cheated, it takes a
cheater to catch another cheater.
The
1080p 2.35 X 1 digital High Definition image is a digital shoot with
minor issues, but is fine otherwise, but having lossy Dolby Digital
in both English 5.1 + 2.0 Stereo AND lossy Dolby Digital in both
Korean 5.1 + 2.0 Stereo mixes is lame as at least the Korean tracks
should be lossless. That is a mistake and disappointment. Extras
include
a Making of the Film clip and trailers.
