Veep: The Complete Third Season (2013/HBO Blu-ray Set)

Picture: B+ Sound: B+ Extras: B Episodes: B

Continuing its reign as home to Television's best and brightest, HBO's Veep returns for its third season and continues to be the best political comedy on television now thanks in part to great writing and the incredible performance by Julia Louis-Dreyfus (who won an Emmy for this role) and an incredible supporting cast including Anna Chlumsky, Tony Hale, Reid Scott, Timothy Simons and Matt Walsh. The basic premise of the show is set in the office of Selina Meyer, a fictional Vice President, and subsequent President, of the United States and the oddities surrounding her extraordinary life.

The ten episode season features episodes Some New Beginnings, The Choice, Alicia, Clovis, Fishing, Detroit, Veep: Special Relationship, Debate, Crate, and New Hampshire.

The strong Season Three of Veep finds Selina flirting with before transitioning to campaigning for President in the wake of the incumbent deciding to resign after one term. As she goes on the road she comes across the interesting characters along the way. Soon, the Presidential Campaign heats up and we serves as the key moment in the season with a twist at the end of the Season Finale that is shocking and perfecting sets up Season 4.

The transfer and sound on the disc is stunning with a crisp 1080p high definition transfer in the original widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1. The sound is a top notch English lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track in English, French and Spanish (DTS 2.0). Total running time for the season is 278 minutes. There is also an Ultraviolet Digital Copy on the set as well.

Extras include Commentary tracks, Deleted Scenes, and a PSA of sorts featuring Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley.

I would definitely suggest Veep if you are Political and always wondering what may happen behind the scenes of being a Vice President along with some hilarious comedy thrown into the mix.
