Well those foul mouthed, poor mannered, and downright idiotic hillbilly squids are back for Volume 6 on DVD. The cast of Early, his son Rusty, sister Lil, Grandma, the Sheriff, and evil corporate genius Dan Halen all return to cause chaos. And as mentioned in in previous reviews, the creators have truly honed in on the best parts of the series; emphasizing the character flaws that make the show so strange and wonderful.

The series remains AMAZINGLY well done and interesting after all of these years. The stories are mostly non-PC, not family friendly, and (quite frankly) offensive; all reasons why it is so great. There is no real continuity to the series as the characters are often mangled, disfigured, or have other catastrophic events happen to them; things that are ignored episode to episode. There are elements like Rusty's son that are reoccurring; but overall continuity doesn't matter.

It is a fun series that longtime fans will continue to enjoy and new comers need not be afraid... just offended.

The technical features are similar to previous seasons, but the release overall can be described as barebones. This is a 'print to order' DVD that may not play on all DVD players. It comes in a light weight DVD case that showcases wonderful packaging art; but a far cry from the cardboard slipcases of earlier seasons. No extras exist and the picture and sound slide by as average or mediocre. The picture is a widescreen anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 letterbox presentation that gets the job done, but lacks the crisp clarity of other Adult Swim series on Blu-ray; even being somewhat of a downgrade from other DVD releases. There are intended 'flaws' to make the animation appear worn and gritty; but even beyond that the image isn't the best and colors could have been better. The sound is a lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 surround that comes mostly from the front though ambient noises and music does utilize other speakers. Again no extras included.
