Star Trek: Captain Kirk's Boldest Missions (2015 compilation/CBS DVDs)

Picture: C Sound: B- Extras: D Episodes: B+

James T. Kirk... a hero, a captain, a maverick among the science community. Along with the crew of the Enterprise, they explore strange new galaxies, new civilizations, to seek out new lifeforms, to boldly go where no man has gone before. Join Captain Kirk (William Shatner) in 8 of his greatest missions as he faces the unknown on Star Trek: Captain Kirk's Boldest Missions, a new 2015 compilation DVD from CBS.

From aliens to xenomorphs, join Kirk and his crew as he saves the galaxy from hostile aliens, doomsday devices, to even evil alternate-dimensions versions of themselves, even time travel. Time and time again the crew of the Enterprise faces impossible odds, Captain Kirk is supported by his first/science officer Spock, Doctor Bones the medical officer, Scotty the chief engineer, Uhura the communication officer, Sulu the helmsman, and Chekhov the ships navigator... together the explore and protect the galaxy and all it's wonders and dangers.

This 8 episodes of the original Star Trek includes how he met Khan (as originally played by Ricardo Montalban). This is the best and original space opera before we had real computer graphics, it shows how it's ideas and stories were beyond it's time. Through fiction and science fiction we have to wonder what sort of future is mankind heading for and even if we do travel among the stars one day, what sort of 'aliens' will we be?

Of course, all three seasons have been issued in Blu-ray sets (some of which are reviewed elsewhere on this site), so the 1.33 X 1 image here is only going to be so good, but the lossy Dolby Digital sound was a little better. There are no extras.
