Falling Skies: The Complete Fourth Season (2015/Warner Blu-ray Set)

Picture: B+ Sound: B+ Extras: B Episodes: B

Falling Skies returns in its exciting Fourth Season Blu-ray release! If you haven't had the chance to check out this epic sci-fi program and are a fan of films like War of the Worlds, District 9, or the like then this is definitely a show that is worth your time. Produced by Steven Spielberg himself and starring Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Drew Roy, Will Patton, Connor Jessup, and Colin Cunningham, this big budgeted alien romp definitely feels more like a long film than a series. Twelve episodes are available here, spanned over two Blu-ray discs, and offer not only great entertainment interesting supplements as well paired with a fantastic high def presentation by Warner Brothers.

Aliens have attacked the Earth, and they won. Now, a small group of survivors surrounding major cities around the world must band together and rebuild some sort of society. Not only must they figure out how to work together, they must figure how to eliminate the new alien race who have taken over their planet. Tom Mason (Wyle), a Boston historian, has his family torn apart. His knowledge of how civilizations are born makes him an ideal leader for starting over, but his desire to reunite family lead him down a path more dangerous than planning a society. Everyday people must become heroes, normal humans must make priorities between family and civilization. The idea of what was always known is destroyed, and they must redefine existence. Above it all are a race of aliens to whom humanity is nothing. As Season Four opens, The Mason clan and the remaining 2nd Mass suddenly find themselves under brutal attack by a new Espheni war machine.

Episodes here include Ghost In The Machine, The Eye, Exodus, Evolve Or Die, Mind Wars, Door Number Three, Saturday Night Massacre, A Thing With Feathers, Till Death Do Us Part, Drawing Straws and Season Finale Pt. 1 & 2.

The presentation here is pretty flawless and even better than its original broadcast with a sharp 1080p high definition transfer, a 1.78:1 widescreen aspect ratio, and a lossless, English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, there isn't much to complain about here. Also on the disc are English SDH, French, Spanish, and Dutch Closed Captioning for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Extras are bountiful, which is always nice to see on a new release here we have including:

  • Character Interviews with actors Colin Cunningham, Connor Jessup, Drew Roy, Maxim Knight, Moon Bloodgood, Noah Wyle, Sarah Carter and Scarlett Byrne

  • Inside the Episode: Ghost In The Machine, The Eye, Exodus, Evolve Or Die, Mind Wars, Door Number Three, Saturday Night Massacre, A Thing With Feathers, Till Death Do Us Part, Drawing Straws, Season Finale Pt. 1 & 2

  • Comic Con Panel

If you are a sci-fi fan like I am, then I would highly suggest giving this show a watch. I feel like it's going to become a cult classic soon and find more fame maybe even after its original broadcast much like shows like Alien Nation.
