Here's
two new cable TV releases on DVD with a few common denominators...
Country
Bucks: Season 1
Rednecks
with high tech weaponry, ahem... hunting gear. There is no such
thing as too much fire power for the Busbice Family. With their own
personal hunting grounds and a multi-million dollar hunting gear
company, the modify and invent/find new way to play, umm... use their
hunting products. This family has over 55,000 acres of hunting
ground dedicated to taking on customers who wants the ultimate
hunting experience. More often then not, Hard Luck (the father) gets
crazy ideas and ask his 'sons' to help test it out. Guests stars
include the Robertsons from Duck Dynasty and Bill from Swamp
People, giving you your crossover quotient.
Thus,
this was like watching knock off/mix blend of Duck Dynasty and
Swamp People (it makes you wonder if that what rich people do
with their time). A hallmark to making your own personal
multi-million dollar gear company seems to mean also making your own
reality TV show to advertise your own merchandise. The show is not
really showing how to use their hunting gear or even hunting but the
silly antics between the characters and blowing stuff up for the fun
of it.
The
End of the Civil War
History
takes a look into the events that lead up to the end of the American
Civil War, mainly Sherman's March and the eventual surrender of the
Confederate Army. But even with the surrender and defeat of the
South, the victory was over shadowed by Lincoln's assassination, the
hunt for John Wilkes Booth and the Stealing of Lincoln's body. It is
of little question, one of the chief reasons for the end of the civil
war was General William Sherman.
He
boldly lead his army into the heartland of the South with a scorched
Earth policy, cut off from union supply lines, he followed a risky
strategy of capturing and burning enemy supplies, towns, and
civilians. The result was forcing the Confederate States into chaos
and fear and then to it's eventual surrender. As for the hunt for
John Wilkes Booth, it was one of America's largest manhunt for a
single man, for a man who considered himself a hero/patriot of the
South, only to learn later he was seen as a traitor and terrorist to
even his own people. But even after President Lincoln's death,
Lincoln's body could not rest in peace for there were those who
plotted to steal and ransom his body.
When
people think of the Civil War, many can only remember Lincoln, the
Gettysburg Address and John Wilkes Booth. This show tells more of
the Generals who lead the troops and the civilians who experienced
the troops. While the North called Sherman a hero, see why the South
called him a devil. And while most know of Lincoln and his
assassination, few knew how (thought there are several theories) and
what happened to his body afterwards.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image and lossy Dolby Digital 2.0
Stereo sound on both releases are soft in many similar ways and both
have no extras.
