There
are a lot of similarities between Hit Girl's story in Mark Millar's
Kick Ass 2 as there are to the protagonist of this film. An
unstoppable badass Kid Assassin that has no problem slicing and
dicing some thugs but when it comes down to high school drama,
there's no feat harder. Featuring an impressive cast including
Haliee Stenfield, Sophie Turner, Jessica Alba, and Samuel L. Jackson,
it's a wonder that this film didn't find a bigger audience in
theaters.
A
teenage special ops agent yearning for a normal adolescence fakes her
own death and enrolls as an exchange student in a suburban American
high school. She quickly learns that surviving the treacherous
waters of being a teenager can be more difficult than international
espionage.
The
Blu-ray presentation is near perfection with a sharp 1080p High
Definition transfer and a widescreen aspect ratio of 1.85:1 paired
with a lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track that doesn't
disappoint.
Extras
include: Deleted Scenes, Back To School: On the Set of
Barely Lethal Featurette and an informative Audio Commentary
with Director Kyle Newman and Actors Dove Cameron and Thomas Mann.
Typical extras for a Blu-ray release but definitely appreciated as
of late many studios have been cutting back on bonus materials for
smaller films.
Decent
film with an excellent presentation and some decent extras, this is a
comedy that you don't want to miss if you're a fan of films like Mean
Girls or Kick Ass.
