Bark Ranger (2015/Lionsgate DVD)

Picture: B Sound: C Extras: C Film: C+

Two kids and their dog, Ranger discover a long lost treasure map left by their great grandfather go searching his lost gold mine, but then they aren't the only ones after the gold. Things get hairy when when a pair of bumbling crooks learn about the treasure, but good old Ranger still has a few tricks up his sleeve.

Chloe just moved into town with her vegan yoga mother and she meets Jack and his talking dog, Ranger. Together, they discover a treasure that might just save their town park from foreclosure after two bumbling crooks rob the town treasury. The two crooks just so happen to crash their car into their neck of the woods and discover Chloe and Jack's treasure.

This movie was like a mix of Beethoven, Home Alone and Scooby-Doo. It is a family friendly movie about two kids and their dogs out smarting two idiot crooks. Jon Lovitz heads the voice cast for this animated release.

The anamorphically enhanced CGI-produced image looks good here and should have had a Blu-ray release, but the lossy Dolby Digital is weaker than it should be, further calling for a Blu-ray. Extras include minuscule bonus episodes and trailers.
