WXIII:
Patlabor The Movie 3 (2002/Maiden
Japan/Sentai Blu-ray)

In
the future Tokyo is filled with 'Labors', heavy mechanized robots to
build the new Babylon. Along with Labors are the Patlabors, police
mecha designed to take down any Labor related crimes, but when a
string of marine Labors are destroyed and their pilots eaten, what
they thought was caused by eco terrorist, maybe a government/military
cover up for a military bio-weapons project code named WXIII.
In
Mamoru Oshii's WXIII: Patlabor The Movie 3 (2002), Tokyo
Babylon a shining city of the future built on science and mecha
technologies. However, in the rapid growth, unexpected danger, crime
still arise, specially Labor related crimes. But this time, the
Patlabor task force might be in over it's head, a monster roams and
patrols the Tokyo bay. With a military cover up and the government
involved, they cannot go public with the truth, but the real truth is
with each passing moment... WXIII is getting hungry.
Based on
the Patlabor TV series of a mechanized policed task force, the
movies have gone far from the original plot of police mecha combating
crime. The movies were more like horror themed releases instead of
action/comedy/police drama, but it works and works well.
The
1080p 1.78 X 1 digital High Definition widescreen image is digital
and on the weak side despite how good this all is, but the Japanese &
separate (if lesser) English DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 mixes are
aggressive and help make up for that. Extras
include Mobile Police Patlabor Minipato Shorts (running 38 minutes)
and trailers.
