The Killing: The Complete Fourth Season (2014/Fox DVD)

Picture: B- Sound: B- Extras: D Episodes: B

The Killing, a Netflix series, has just made its complete and final season of the show onto disc and boy is it great. Good acting, solid cinematography and production value up there with HBO's True Detective. The show stars the new Robocop himself (whose been on the show before landing that role), Joel Kinnaman and Mireille Enos; and is developed by Veena Sud. Set in Seattle, Washington, the series follows the various murder investigations by homicide detectives Sarah Linden (Enos) and Stephen Holder (Kinnaman, a star still trying to break out).

In this season, Sarah and Stephen handle the fallout of their actions from the previous season while investigating the murder of a family whose only survivor is a member of an all-boys military academy. The show began with buzz and has continued to be one of the first original series to put Netflix on the map with House of Cards (see more on both elsewhere on this site) taking the intelligence of the audience seriously for a change.

The six episode season spans two discs and features the episodes Blood In The Water, Unraveling, The Good Soldier, Dream Baby Dream, Truth Asunder, and the final episode entitled Eden.

Presented in standard definition with an anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 and a lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 track. The show lacks the detail it would have on Blu-ray, but still looks fine for the format. No extras, but catch the show, especially from the beginning.
