K-On!: Season 1 (2009/Sentai Blu-ray)

Picture: B+ Sound: B+ Extras: C Episodes: B+

Yui just entered high school and joined the K-On!, the all girl Light Music Club, but to be honest she expected to be a club where she could goof off and slack off. Granted, the girls spend more time partying, eating snacks, and playing than practicing, but they all still dream of playing on stage together. Yui is the cute air headed girl who has no clue on how get her act together and always causing trouble for others, but then K-On! Light Music Club is the perfect place her.

In K-On!: Season 1 (2009), she is joined by Mio, Ritsu and Mugi who need and want to help revive the school music club. Mio plays the bass and is the capable serious leader who is only flawed by a scaredy cat streak in her. Ritsu plays the drums and is Mio's childhood friend and best friend, she is the irresponsible club president and also the cause/source of Mio's phobias. And finally Mugi is on the keyboard; she is a rich little heiress and she is the one constantly bringing tea and rich snacks, and funding the various activities and trips for the club. They are supported by their club advisor, their teacher Sawa-chan who has a hidden 'colorful' past and love dressing up the girls, and Ui is Yui's capable mature little sister who can out do Yui in everything.

This was a cute anime, about high school life and how all girls want want to be in a rock band (or at least dream about it). It mainly about all the comedy and drama between the girls, as they spend more time playing than practicing but somehow they all become fast friends and enjoy their high school days.

The 1080p 1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image offers a more than impressive presentation from episode to episode throughout, while the lossless DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 2.0 Stereo is warm, rich and even has nice Pro Logic surrounds. Extras include 2 Bonus episodes, clean opening and closing animations, and trailers.
