If
you're a fan of retro bizarre cult porn, in this case Asian, then you
may want to check Sexual
Assault At A Hotel
out. Obviously shot on film, this sleaze-fest is more strange than
erotic and in moments comedic including a scene with a Asahi beer
bottle (use your imagination as to what is done with said bottle) and
a silly soundtrack. Though it is an erotic film, it isn't shot or
produced terribly and will suit its niche audience well.
The
lovely Ryoko is attending a Japanese University on an exchange
program. She's pretty, vulnerable, shy and full of mysterious
secrets. Meeting up with her long-time friend Rumiko, Ryoko shuns
her aggressive lesbian advances by saying she's still a virgin.
Rumiko is surprised at this revelation and, over the next few days,
she takes Ryoko on a series of misadventures to help her with her
sexual awakening.
One
night, after a booze and pill filled evening, a man breaks into their
room and sexually assaults both women in a shockingly violent
sequence. When the mysterious man's identity is revealed, the film
takes a crazy downward spiral into madness, death, and weird occult
rituals.
The
title may be slightly misleading as there is only one rape scene in
the film and its more of a psychological study of womens' sexual
explorations more than anything. Most of the men in the scenes are
somewhat clothed while the women appear more vulnerable naked.
Directed by Koretsugu Kurahara, this film is both bizarre and erotic.
Presented
in standard definition with an anamorphic widescreen cinemascope
aspect ratio of 2.35:1, the film looks fine on DVD with a lossy
Japanese Dolby Digital Mono soundtrack and English subtitles. Extras
include a trailer
and Linear
Notes From Japanese Film Scholar Jasper Sharp.
This
film is number 24 in the Nikkatsu Erotic Films Collection.
